For the past two years, FCSIT celebrated the International Day of Mathematics which falls on the 14 March (3.14 - the value of Pi). This year, UNIMAS Data Science Centre organised UNIMAS Mathematics Challenge (UMaCh) for the first time. The challenge attracted local schools and international participants; they all had one big quest: to solve challenging Mathematics questions.

UMaCh 2023 received an encouraging number of participants from both West and East Malaysia, and also other countries such as Pakistan, Indonesia and Singapore. The total number of teams that joined us was 21 senior and 33 junior teams.

The questions for the challenge were released on 27th Feb and the submission date was on 14th March 2023. During the challenge, the participants were also encouraged to show their creativity and team spirit by designing their team posters. This challenge met closure on the 21st March 2023 with International Math Day (Pi Day) Celebration at FCSIT, UNIMAS

The winning teams' presentations were held online in the morning while, the award ceremony for the winners and closure was addressed by YB Datuk Roland Sagah, Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, in the evening, through live stream on the FCSIT YouTube channel.
